On this cold day I went back to some pictures from the trip to Australia last May.

We were treated to a view of wild dolphins surfing the waves in North Stradbroke Island.

ANZAC day

Last Thursday was ANZAC day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzac_Day), which is like Memorial Day in the USA. It is also different in that the shops are in fact closed and people, especially servicemen and women, are out celebrating the day.

Brisbane

At the South Bank parklands in Brisbane.

While I am generally a fan of b/w, it does not do justice to the area, so here is a bit of color.

On the way to Down Under

On the way to another month in Australia, got stuck at LAX.

The problem:

I have never been subject to so much BS by any airline in any trip before.

Anyhow, spent a day around LAX.

We'll be on the way again tonight and hopefully Down Under tomorrow.

Benares

Also known as Varanasi. The colorful and somewhat overwhelming ancient city by the Ganges.

People go there to wash their clothes and textiles, bathe, go on a boat ride, give offerings or just socialize.

It was very busy but also very colorful in New Year's day.

The Taj Mahal

Early in the morning in thick fog. I actually preferred the light and scenery to the usual sunny depictions of the Taj in the background.
